Am I going to gain weight??

Recommended Posts

Today was the big day, it is day 15 since I was banded and I am allowed to have soft food, but at least I am out of the liquid stage. It is my mom's birthday and her favorite food is chinese.. so of course we ordered. I had steamed moo shu chicken with sauce on the side. I was very sparing with the sause and ate about 1/4 and just decided that was probably enough I didn't want to push it! However, it went down really well.. since I do not have a fill yet I was wondering if it would limit me at all and it didn't at first, but also did not feel full... because i was chewing very well and going very slow. However, I got home and about six hours later I wanted to try a little more. I start heating up about another 1/4 and i of course take a fork and put some in my mouth and my boyfriend asks me a question so I swallowed it real quick.to answer him.. I wasnt thinking ... and than it happened .... it got stuck and it all came up a few seconds later! It might sound werid, but I was like wow .. great.. my band is there and it works some what before a fills.. my question is .. i lost 20lbs during the first two weeks .. while on the first two weeks of the post opp diet.. will i start to gain all the weight back ?... even if I am staying away from carbs and do only one meal a day with shakes for two other meals??? I am nervous because after eatting a little I do not feel full.. I feel like I can keep eatting if I really wanted by chewing well and eatting slow????

You tend to gain a little bit, or not lose when you transition back into solids. It evens out after about 5 or 6 weeks. I kept all the liquid weight off personally. I maybe gained one pound, or didn't lose a pound for a week or two.

Follow your diet! Can you have chicken 15 days out? It's not soft food. Unless it's ground.

You just don't get that full... full is different now. It's not stuffed full. Fill or not. You just want to be satisfied and not hungry. It's not thanksgiving full. I eat less food, but I don't eat like 1/4 cup of food... Just watch your calories and you should be fine. Pay attention to your body!

yes, you might gain a few pounds back but it won't be 20 pounds... so don't worry.

you're entering what is commonly called "Bandster Hell" because you are banded but have little to no restriction... so you're going to be hungry and able to eat somewhat normal until you begin having fills.

try not to get depressed over it... the weight will come off!!

I gained a 3 pounds back when i went on mushies, however come to find out it was because i wasnt eating enough calories. Everyone on the forum told me i was starving myself because calories were around 700-800. Once i increased calories to appr 1100 per day the weight started dropping off. I'm now losing 2-3 pounds a week and don't feel like i'm dieting. Don't worry about not feeling full - there will come a time when you eat to your limit and you will definitely "know" that you have. It took 2 times for me to figure out that moment when i shouldn't have another bite. Now it's easy i make my small plate, eat and stop when i hit that moment. Then i'm not hungry for the next 4 hrs or so. I've only been at this for almost 6 weeks and already have myself and my diet on a routine and i love it. Good luck!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
