Hey. I just joined today after re-committing to my band. It's been four years! since I've been to my doctor and I've gained 44lbs. At my best, post surgery, I had lost 65lbs. and was thrilled with my progress. I'm back on liquids and looking forward to being back on track. I saw my doctor today and she was welcoming and supportive. So much has happened in my life over the past four years that helped to push me far away from my goals, but I'm back. I look forward to the support and I can get from this forum. Thanks!

Good for you!!!!! It is a tool, and sometimes tools lay around the garage for a while before we need them, or admit to it.. I know I have pounded a few nails with a high heel versus the walk outside to get a hammer.

Your going to do great, and the most important thing is that you recognized it was a problem and went to the doctor. A lot of people from what I see relapse, and then build up shame and guilt and never address the issues.

:-)

Love the tool analogy!! Thanks. That build-up of shame and fear is totally part of what happened with me. I just got to a point where I had to say to myself, "Self, if you're not going to use the damn thing, take it out!" And since I really didn't want to go through surgery again, and what I did really want it to lose weight and be healthier, I decided the only thing to do was to go back to the doc and to behave as if I were back at square one.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
