My surgery was this past Friday, March 4th. It's been 5 days and I have lost 5 lbs. That's the good news. The bad news is I am so nauseated. I can barely sit still. I have this constant heartburn and gas. I've taken tums and Gas-X already today. Today's menu, Water, 1/2 20 oz smoothie King gladiator, and apprx 4 ozs of chicken broth. Please advise.

Thanks,

Robyn

I have a feeling your surgeon may have put Fluid in your band at the time of surgery. It might be a bit too much for you with the standard swelling. I suggest you call and find out. You might get some relief if it is removed.

Best wishes!

hi robyn :) congrats on your surgery! i had my surgery on 1/13/11 my doc gave me a promethegan 25mg suppositories and they helped me a lot for the nausea so you might want to ask your doc for some of those. also for the gas i tried it all and one thing i found that helped me was peppermint tea! it did wonders for me! are you making sure that you are walking plenty? the best thing is to walk, walk, walk. i still get really bad gas pains. but since my last fill i have not had the pains anymore so i am really hoping that they are gone for good! that has been the worst part. keep us posted and good luck!

Thanks CheckYes, yes he did add Fluid at the time of the surgery. I will try to tough it out this afternoon. If I feel the same by tomorrow, I will give him a call. Congrats on your 45 lbs in just 3 months, you seem to be doing great!

Thanks phershey. If I am not feeling any relief by tomorrow, I will be sure to ask for that Rx. Headed to breakroom to look for pepermint tea. Willing to try anything at this point

Hi NervousNealy,

i was banded on March 1st and just went for my 1 week post op visit. i haven't experienced nausea but i was uncomfortable. I was feeling pressure in middle of chest and took a long time to swallow drinks and food because of pressure. Turns out some Fluid was left in my band, so with the swelling and fluid it was causing me to be uncomfortable. Maybe check with dr as you may have fluid that needs to be drained. i felt instantly better afterwards and could down a cup of Water no problem!!

Hello Robyn,

I'm so sorry that you are having this issue. I was also banded on Friday March 4th!! I felt the same way right after surgery (first couple days) and still have that pressure/heartburn feeling in the morning, but thankfully mine goes away as the day goes on. I would call your surgery center and ask what you can do. Good Luck on your journey...keep in touch.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
