OK, I am almost 2 years post op and I have only lost about 35 lbs. Now this is good BUT I still need to loose about 40-50 more. I have recently been told that my espohagus has stretched and so I got a little Fluid removed. I go back in 3 months to see if it has gotten any better or not. I have learned how to snack again and am not making the good choices that I once did. Does anyone have advice to help me get back on track?? I have even thought of going back to Weight Watchers again and I really do not want to. As many of you I have been there too many times!

You don't mention is your doing any kind of excersise. If your not, I highly reccomend you start. It works wonders for weight loss and has lots of other benefits. Start out slow and gradually increase your intensity/duration. I also found cutting carbs helps a lot. The less flour/sugar you have, the less you crave. The South Beach diet is a good one- it calls for the healthy carbs (whole grains, fruit, dairy) and healthy fats (unsaturated such as olive oil and avacado). Good luck!

Try the 5 day pouch test. It's on the web.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
