I have been having issues with this since surgery 2 wkd ago. Been following my preScribed diet and am now back on pretty much normal foods but it has not really improved. O know that with the smaller amounts I am eating I will go less, but it is gettingnto be a problem and uncomfortable. What do other people do about this or take for his problem?

I had this problem post-op as well. The anesthesia slows the intestines down, then you don't have any real food for weeks and are on pain meds. It is a wicked comba. I took a stool softener, Colace I think. Try one with no stimulants. If you need to a glycerin suppository can be useful if you are experiencing blockage lower in the system. I also added Fiber powder to everything I drank (store brand Benefiber) to keep things working well. And of course, walking will always get your gut moving again. :)

I had that problem and called the doctor. They told me to take Milk of Magnesia (I am sure I spelled that wrong) but it did work

When you are up to it, eat something with black Beans in it. That solves the problem really quickly, but I am lucky to get two bowl movements a week and I am over two months out.

I had surgery in November and to this day I still have problems in that area. I've had to add Benefiber to my food and recently added fiber bars into my diet. Has helped a little but like the other person said, I'm lucky to go once or twice a week. Big change since I was going every day prior to surgery. When I feel a little backed up.. I drink Mira lax which was recommended by my doctor office. If you are constipated it makes it easier to go, and doesn't give you bad stomach cramps like some of the other products. Make sure to drink lots of Water too!

I eat a Fiber One Bar most days and that seems to work really well. I eat it as my planned snack in the evening, which helps curb my problem with the evening munchies. It takes like a treat, keeps me full.....and keeps things moving.

Thanks guys. I used to eat the bars bedew I got banded but was afraid to try them now since I thought they might get stuck. Will try the benefiber too

i don't know about the Fiber One bars, but Benefiber is working great for me. I was getting constipated once a week, and having to take a laxative. Now, I use Benefiber and have no problem staying regular!

After surgery, my doctor recommended Dulcolax, a stool softener. I had issues for a couple weeks after surgery, but they eventually cleared up. Now it's not even an issue because I get enough fat and Water in my diet.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
