Any May 2011 Banders?

Recommended Posts

Wow my surgery date is the same as yours. Really scared of failing as I am a vegetarian and have limited food options once my surgery is done.

I just got my surgery date today :) I'll be having my procedure done on May 10th! I can't wait. I only have to do a one week liquid diet before surgery.

Have you talked to your surgeon about that concern? I wonder if they would have some idea for you. I hope that your surgery goes well!

I was supposed to be banded on April 5th. But due to my Type 1 Diabetes going haywire the morning of the surgery, my surgery was canceled. I heard today that I have been rescheduled now for May 3rd, and this time I will be admitted to the hospital the day before so my blood sugar can be monitored. Hopefully, everything works out this time.

Got my date today!! May 18th is the start of my new life!! I have a choice of a liquid Optifast diet for 6 days pre-op or a regular diet of 800-1000 calorie high Protein diet for 7 days. Any suggestions which way I should go? I am allowed 1 4oz piece of grilled chicken breast a day on the Optifast. My last nutrition class is tomorrow night and I just have my pre-op meeting left with my surgeon's office. I'm excited but nervous!!!:D

I'm scheduled for May 20th! I just found out yesterday. My insurance hasn't officially approved it, but the insurance guy at my surgeon's office says I'll definitely be approved. He says with my insurance, we should know in just a few days. He'd better be right, or I'm going to be pissed! lol

just went through my pre operative orientation and I survived..

Nothing too major...really surprised at how lax the pre op diet is...

was scared I would be on liquids for weeks.. but only five days...

Can't believe that surgery is in less than eighteen days!! May 10th here we come!

How exciting!! Does your Dr. require a pre op diet?

Yes, 2 weeks 4 Protein shakes a day (8 ounces) 2 fruits and 1 meal with 4 ounces of lean protein/greens. This is end of my second week and as I mentioned in post, I cheated yesterday morning with a one egg omlet cooked in Pam. It was a hard week, but it is what I will have to do.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
