Just Wondering???

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2.11.2011. The first week while on liquids only, I lost 18 lbs. Week 2 (mushy phase), I have only lost 1 lb. Overall, I am very pleased so I do not want to come off as unhappy. I am just curious if anyone experienced a large weight loss at first and then hardly anything. I just dont understand why I have not lost more this week considering the small amount of food I am intaking and the fact that I am following the program exactly. Any insight would be appreciated.

I lost a good amount of weight the week after surgery and then there was about a 3-4 week period before I started getting fills that I did not drop any weight. Once I started getting my fills my weight lose became study each week. There are going to be times that you lose more then other weeks and sometimes that you may not lose anything. Don't beat yourself up.. Plus for me, in the beginning even though the scale wasn't moving, I still noticed a big change in my clothes so you can always lose inches and not pounds.

Good luck to you!

I lost 19 on my pre surgery diet, then 11 my first 2 weeks, now the scale has not budged in 5 days. So I think what is happening to you is normal. And I too can tell a big difference in my clothes. Just stick to the program your doc has for you and you will ge there!

Unfortunately yes, I lost 9 lbs my first week post op, then stalled for 3 weeks Now I am losing less than a pound some weeks, some weeks nothing. Since my first week post op, I have only lost 4.5 lbs and I am getting quite upset about it. I am going to try to switch some things this week and see if I can improve that. I'm embarrassed to go to my dr next week. :(

I am only 5 days post op so I can't really help you. But the nutritionist told us that if we notice that we are not losing then to check our Protein and Fluid intake. She say 9 times out of 10 it is because our protein intake isn't where it should be.

HTH,

Wendy

1-2lbs a week is normal, safe, weight loss that is what you should expect from now on. :) also you are still healing so don't worry.

The 18lbs is only because you aren't eating! It's to help you heal, weight loss is kind of an unintentional side effect.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
