Issues with lapband

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband done on 1/14/11, and since than have lost 32pounds. Great right??? Well small issue everything I eat I throw up or I go to the bathroom and get sick, nothing is staying down, i called my doctor who told me, "it's normal to go through this".... I dont think he is getting it, I had a appt this friday and he moved it back to 3/4/11. At this point I am fed up and wanting this thing out, eating is a joke, I don't, I hope someone else out there has some advice, at this point I want it out and I want it out now.

What exactly are you eating? Are you taking small bites and chewing well? If not, that's probably the problem.

I know the feeling! I just had Fluid removed this week because of constant puking. I have been having episodes on and off since about Thanksgiving. Great for weight loss, but bad if you want to have a life. Once you throw up you are so inflamed that this can cause a cycle of volitting. Mine was so bad, I threw up ice cream. The only explanation for me has been stress. I tend to have a lot of anxiety so working on ways to figure out how to manage stress and yet still have some restriction. I hope your Dr. will listen to your concers, no one wants to be sick all the time. Best of luck.

Ice cream? Wow. My doctor has me on a completely restricted diet. banded 25th, liquids yesterday, Protein Shakes and milk for one week, purees for week2 and then to soft foods. Regular eating really starts at week 4-5. An, if I have issues, return to Protein shakes and/or low fat milk again. We had tons of classes and a day long orientation prior to surgery. No nausea what so ever so far. Only problem is after surgery gas... Maylox Max seems to be helping that. Much better this morning than yesterday evening. Good luck. If you doctor doesn't have you rushing in after a day or so of puking, find another doc. My main goal is to NOT puke - it messes with the band. rolleyes.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
