Miscarriage Question/Support

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and new to posting of all/any sorts. I've been banded since feb. of 2009 i just hit the 2yr mark. I've lost only a total of 48 pnds (not sure if that's normal but i'm still trying). I'm wondering how many people have had successful pregnancies after the band? I have had two unsuccessful pregnancies in 2010 and i'm pregnant again now. Ok let me say im also a newly wed in case the pregnancies appear excessive.I'm very nervous and just looking for support with the pregnancy. I do talk to my husband however I don't want him to know that i'm as nervous as I am. Is it normal with the band to experience miscarriages? Any feed back would be grate.

Oh, I'm so sorry. A miscarriage is never easy. I've had 3 and you'll find that most women you talk to have either had a miscarriage or know someone close to them has had one. I'm newly banded so I'm not sure how pregnancy with the band works but I'm here if you need to chat with someone about the miscarriages.

I'm sending you sticky thoughts on this pregnancy... GOOD LUCK!

It is very normal to be nervous after a miscarriage. I experienced 2 before they found the reason why and I was able to have 2 great kids. i was a nervous wreck with both pregnancies. I'm sure the nurse got sick of me but luckily we live in a small town where I could call the nurse and she would let me come up to listen to the heartbeat! you may find your husband is just as nervous. Men (in general) hate when there is something they can't fix and find it especially hard when the woman they love is in pain. I wish i knew about pregnancy after the band but if you ever need someone to talk to please don't hesitate to send me a message. I am more than willing to listen. I am sending prayers your way for a healthy & happy pregnancy!

Thank u ladies for the support. The web is such a great resource. I go for my first appointment on Monday 2/28. I'm hoping all goes well. I have switched to a new DR because my previous one never even considered asking me to do any test to see what was going on (after two miscarriages). Not to mention the Ultrasound Tech told me the baby passed in front of my 10 yr old daughter. (Talk about insensitive) that's to say the least about them. I spent time researching offices yesterday. I'm hoping this experience will be far better than that of the past. I'll keep ya posted.

I'm so sorry for your losses :(

I haven't heard of the band affecting pregnancies negatively but have heard of women having babies after bands. I do know that miscarriages are far more common than many people realize until they start trying to have children.

I hope you are able to find some answers and that you will eventually be cuddling a new little one in your arms.

That is horrible! They didn't even offer you an explanation of what might have caused the miscarriages? Switching doctors is a great idea. I would maybe even make a complaint to their board about the ultrasound tech!

Ask the new dr to run the gammet of blood tests. We found that I had blood clotting disorder causing the miscarriages. I was put on baby aspirin while trying to conceive and shots of blood thinner while pregnant. A realitively easy fix and the result was 2 healthy babies. I pray that your results will be just as easily fixed. A high risk pregnancy isn't all that bad. It equals more doctors visits, i.e. more chances to hear the heartbeat and more ultrasounds to see him or her!

Good luck and let us know how everything is going. :)

UPDATE >>>> All went so well at the DR's yesterday. I love love love the DR. She was so kind and understanding. I have 3 follow up appointments so far. She assured me that they will keep a close watch on this pregnancy. So for the first time i'm quite optimistic about being pregnant. I'm trying not to get over excited though. My first two appointments will be ultrasounds and the third will be routine stuff like diet and exercises and talking over any concern. So far so good.I'll keep praying daily and trying not to worry. Next update will be 3/7/11. Oh and before I end estimated due date is 10/11/11.:)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
