No restriction after first fill

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill about a month ago and my surgeon put 2 cc's into my band. I am not feeling restriction and I requested to go in sooner for my next fill. Has anyone experienced this? How many cc's before you start feeling a difference?

Me either and they put 5cc's in mine the first time.

No one can tell you how many cc's before you feel restriction- everyone is different. Are you going in within a month for your next one? They had me at 8 weeks, now they have me at a month.

My friend has 6cc's in hers and she right where she needs to be. I have 9cc's in mine and I still don't have enough restriction. This is why I say it is different for everyone. Be sure to eat healthy, track your intake (fitday.com), and exercise. You can at least be getting your body ready for the change while youre waiting for the restriction to kick in.

Keep your chin up and don't get disheartened! It will happen! :)

I went thru the same issue and fell off the plan and noticed I was gaining weight again stick to how you were instructed to eat and do not deviate from it. Good luck

I think most people dont feel alot of restriction (if any) on their first fill. Just be sure you're going back once a month to continue your fills. I feel like had they filled me every month instead of every 8-12 weeks at the beginning, I would be in a much better place now. Instead, they waited till about after my 5th fill (because I had GAINED weight) to start filling me once a month.

Chin up and dont worry- you'll be where you need to be soon!

Some people go without a fill at all and have restriction. I have a 10cc band with 7.2 cc in it and I dont have much restriction at all but when they put 7.5 cc it was too tight I couldnt even swallow my siliva so its different for everyone.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
