New to LapBandTalk - banded 6 days ago

Recommended Posts

Hello - my name is Laura and I had my LapBand surgery 6 days ago, on February 1st. So far so good, but today was a little tough with hunger. I'm still in the full liquid stage and hope to move to soft food stage a week from now. I'm here to learn and share with others going through this journey. Thanks for reading my post and any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated!

I'm right there with ya. I was banded a day before you and I'm also feeling the hunger right about now. Welcome! I try to keep in mind this part is temporary and it helps.

HI I WAS REBANDED ON SATURDAY, STILL ON liquid diet, HAVEN'T HAD ANY HUNGER YET....TRY TO KEEP BUSY, IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT A TWO WEEKS TO FORGET ABOUT food, ITS NOT SO MUCH THE HUNGER BUT THE ANXIETY TO CHEW SOMETHING.... THIS IS MY SECOND BAND, I GOT THE FIRST IN 1999, HAD TO TAKE IT OUT 2 YEARS AGO....IT TAKES SOME TIME TO GET USED TO IT BUT YOU'LL GET THERE.

Hi, Im new to the site. I just had my Lap Band put in on Weds February 9th, 2011, By Dr. Davis of Stamford Hospital. I was told that I could eat some pureed foods since I have been holding the fluids down, but yesterday I tried eating some mushed up Cod Fish and I thought I would throw up so I stopped! I was scared bleep-less!! I do feel hunger but its hard because the gas makes you feel sooo bloated!! So, I will be trying the Gas-X strips! I joined because I can use all the advice I can get as far as how to make the foods go down smoother and avoid throw-ups! I use to run six miles a day but after having Cancer and my handicap brother die of the same I said I think its a wake up call and this is why I took the plunge!! Thanks in advance for any good advice on LP.

Jessie

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
