I was banded on Friday and wrote a post about it but it got deleted. I was supposed to be banded on Wednesday but they rescheduled because of the snow storm. When I showed up on Friday they were running about 2 hrs late and both of these things made me wonder if it was a 'sign' to reconsider. To top it off, my hospital Bracelet was missing the little nub on it so they had to make a new one. I felt like there was all these things saying don't do it. Surgery day went pretty normal everyone was nice and I was only at the hospital for 2 hours or so after I woke up. My scars look small but there is a lot of glue so it is hard to tell right now. When I got home I was +7 pounds but 2.5 days later all of that is gone again. To be honest I felt pretty awful, the pain meds were decent but they gave me just enough for 2 or 3 days. I have barely eaten, most notable meals were broth, Vitamin Water, Jello and applesauce (probably shouldn't have but needed some energy) I think most of the reason I feel so terrible is I have no energy. The pain is going away, the gas is going away and overall I feel better every day. I havent been hungry at all but definitely feel like I have no energy, some pain and some nausea. Looking forward to feeling better and getting my life back on track. Still feeling unsure if this was right for me or not but what's done is done. I can promise you I'll be losing weight and this won't all be for nothing, that's for sure.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
