All About Me

Recommended Posts

Hello All.... I am so glad I found yous. My name is Kelly and I am from Syracuse NY.

Im really ready and really excited to start this journey to now make healthy choices and no im not on a diet...LOL! Im incurring behavior modification into a new lifestyle for myself and family. I am 29yrs old, happily married and a mother of four. The reason for the Lap Band surgery is Ive had to back surgeries and can not get NO weight off and Ive tried it all. I had most of my testing on Jan. 4th 2011 which came back great. On Thursday Jan 27th I met with the Nutritionist and had my Pshycological Exam which they too went very well. Im Pshyced!! So now I have to lose 7 more Llbs before my insurance will cover the Laproscopic lap Band procedure. Also I have to attend 1 support group and 1 more nutrition visit before my Dr. will schedule. My Drs. name is Dr. Jeffrey DeSimone and hes wonderful. He works out of Community General Hospital with great staff and been doing this type of work for over 30 years. I watch alot of youtube videos which really are preparing me for the pre and post op of the Lap Band Life. Im looking forward to this Life Changing Journey and really excited to start chatting with those who have had and are starting their journey to get the Lap Band done. Keep positive and stay focused with your eye on the prize!

Look forward to any positive feedback as Im new to the LapBandTalk!

Love to You ALL....Kelly

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
