How long after surgery for first fill???

Recommended Posts

My doctor decided to tell me 5 minutes before wheeling me back to the OR that he will see me in 6 weeks and WILL NOT fill me at that time. I'm 2 weeks post op and already know I need a fill! How many weeks did you all have to wait for a first fill?

I am going on Friday for my first fill. I thought I would get it 4 weeks post op but I was losing well and he didnt feel I needed it. Now 2 weeks later I KNOW I need it.

Seems all doctors are different, I went in yesterday expecting my first fill, I am a little over 5 weeks post op, and I was completely shocked when my doc said he wanted me to heal some more. Like I said I was shocked, I had only lost 2 pounds since my post op appointment, so I was sure he'd give me a fill and my weight loss would be bump started. (though thoses two pounds just started last week, I plateaued when I wasn't eating enough calories during the mushy, soft, etc stages). So I am really hoping that with my caloric intake being at a good level now and me going to be hitting the gym hard, the weight will start moving even without the fill. I am satisfied at a meal eating the 3-4 oz Protein and 1/2 cup veggies. Does my mind want to eat more, yes, but if I listen to my stomach it is.

I had surgery on August 13 and my first fill at the end of September. I think it was about 6 weeks, and they didn't even consider it before. I've seen some people who were filled 2 weeks after surgery, but I was OK with healing longer first. I didn't feel "restriction" at all until my 3rd fill a few weeks ago. I think I lost about 8 pounds in the liquid weeks after surgery and then went up and down the same 3 pounds for a few weeks. My doctor said that time wasn't as much about losing weight as it was for healing and learning to feel what my band is telling me... and let me tell you, 5 months out I am still learning when my band is about to get angry!!!

I am exactly 2 weeks post-op today. I went in yesterday for my post-surgery check-up, and the doctor made an appt for me to come in in 2 weeks for my first fill. I was super excited, because I had been under the impression that you have to wait 6 weeks after surgery to have the 1st fill. I think I would die of impatience if I was told that it wouldn't even happen at 6 weeks! Ugh, that's awful, Frenchie!

I am at 4 weeks post surgery today and I just had my first fill this morning. I got 3.5 cc which he said was more than he usually does on the first fill, but they had to take some out of mine immediately after surgery due to swelling. Now, he is making up for what was taken out at that time.

At my post op appt Doc said I was still swollen. He wanted me to wait 8 weeks from date of surgery for a fill. His nurse accidentally scheduled me 6 weeks out. Should I say something??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
