Bad stuck episode...Threw up violently...

Recommended Posts

I had a pretty bad stuck episode today and I ended up throwing up violently and now my left chest hurts...

Has that happen to anyone else? Could it just be pain from swelling? I feel ok I can keep food and Water down so I dont think any damage was done to the band. I was just wondering if the pain could be from swelling or maybe I pulled a muscle?

Are you kidding? I ended up in the ER with a stuck episode and had to have all my fill removed. The pain was so bad that I couldn't speak. You probably have some swelling and may have pulled a muscle, too. Just take it easy and do liquids for a day or so. Sip warm drinks or broth. Also, take some liquid tylenol. That should help.

Its probably just pain and swelling....I have small stuck episodes and my chest hurts a little afterward..my girlfriend who has lapband too vomits alot and she has alot of pain afterwards..she has to go to straight liquid for a day or two..she went to the doctor once after it happened and he said it is just because she agitated her band and chest...I would go to liquids if I were you for a day or two and see if it helps..if not call the doctor...:) hope you feel better!

If your lapband friend is vomiting a lot she is jeopardizing her band and health. She needs to find out why she is vomiting. It is not normal. She is either too tight, eating the wrong foods or not chewing enough.

Just click on someone else's ticker and it should take you to the website to set up your own....then you can add the link from your profile page.

Ditto...she needs to take a serious look at what is causing her to get stuck because that should be a rare occurrence. Long term stuck and throwing up episodes can lead to erosion.

Zen,

Most likely just natural muscle soreness from throwing up. As others said though, I'd go to mushies (no thicker than a milkshake) for a day or two to allow any swelling around the band to go down.

Hope you feel better! Rest and relax, I say. Warm liquids always are the best for me when I have been sick. Lipton Soup is good and has tiny noodles that do not cause me any trouble because it has no chunks. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
