Hey Everybody, I'm Stephanie I'm New to the Lap Band Surgery Process. I'm researching and educating myself right now. I am looking for one or two females who have had the Lap Band Surgery and have had success with it. I want to be able to talk with them via email or phone and share my thoughts and questions and concerns and comments with a buddy, someone to support me now and after my surgery. I AM NOT ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE WHAT SO EVER. Just a buddy for emotional support (females only) Please contact me at lezcarebear76@yahoo.com if you want to help me out. thx.

I began my journey in June of 2010. My insurance required me to do a 6 month doctor supervised diet, which I did with my lap band surgeons office. I was SO disappointed that my insurance wanted me to wait! I wanted the surgery right away! But, during that 6 months I learned so much about the process and about myself. I started going to support groups on Thursday nights, started practicing what life with a band would be like (chew chew chew) and I started replacing a meal here and there with Protein drinks. I'm so very thankful for those 6 months and the things I learned.

I was banded on 12/30/10 and it's been wonderful! There are things that I miss eating, but in time I'll be able to have them in moderation so it's not like I'll never get to eat them again. It's a learning process and we'll both get there.

I am happy to answer any questions that you might have, but keep in mind they will only be my experience and that everyone is different. What some can eat, others cannot. My email is imagine923@hotmail and you can email me any time.

Good luck with your journey. Keep moving forward and don't look back.

Chris

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
