Thank you! Off topic, can you tell me how you did that link to your blog? I just started one and I am pretty computer inept, lol.

Of course! When you go to the area (like the fast reply area) to change your signature there is a button next to the smileys button that looks like a chain with green box on it (I can't see it very well on my netbook) and that is the link button!

It's very simple from there! Just copy and paste the link and type in the title you want below that :)

Now, can you tell ME how you lost so much weight in only a year??? How often did you exercise? How strict was your diet and food portions? Do you have a fast metabolism anyway? The newbie would love to know your techniques!

haha! Well, no I DO NOT have a fast metabolism. That is for.sure. What I did was I really made sure to eat Protein first, then whatever veggie (if I had room). I avoid most simple carbs. In the beginning I kept my carbs below 50g a day but kept my Protein at about 120g a day. This worked really well for me. I tracked all of this on www.lapband.com. I started walking AS SOON as I got back home from surgery. Then about 8 weeks later, I decided on a personal trainer. I knew I would not be able to be motivated enough to go to the gym by myself. Having appointments with a professional kept me accountable. I worked out with her using hand weights and some machines mixed with cardio twice a week. Now I attend her boot camp twice a week, which is much more affordable.

I really don't have any money, so a lot of what I did was a financial stretch, but I KNEW it was an investment I would not regret. I also sought out a nutritionist I would see periodically, as well as a therapist. I also attend a support group twice a month.

As I am typing this, I realize it sounds very overwhelming. I have 5 children, lost my car and my home this past year. So I guess my point is, if I can do it, so can ANYONE.

Oh, and WATER!!! A very important part of this lifestyle is getting the Water and Vitamins so that you can flush out all the fat you are working hard to eliminate from your bottom, lol.

SO, ya...this is what worked for me. Everyone is different though. Making sure to journal my intake helped me figure out what worked best for my body. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! I am stoked to help. :)

Haha yay! I definitely see a trend in people that have lost a considerable amount of weight in a year. It's always exercise and Protein, lol. I will definitely keep that in mind! I know my biggest problem will be Water and maybe exercise but my husband just got a membership at a gym and I will probably get on that as well. We just bought a car and my husband is going to school full time so I definitely understand being flat broke!

So I guess when I get my surgery I will remember Protein first, exercise, water! (Along with low carb and food journals!)

Thanks for the advice!:D

lol! I really liked that line too. I also really liked the line about her scars letting her know how far she has come. People get really funny about the scars I will have after reconstructive surgery and I always think of that line in the song when they bring it up. Thanks for checking it out!

Hi everyone! When I was newly banded, I used to go on you tube and watch these kinds of videos for inspiration. I am so happy to have gotten this far...now I have made a movie that may inspire others. It is only 3 minutes long. Please check it out!

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?
