December Bandsters how are you guys doing?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to chek in on everyone and see how you are doing. I was banded on 12/10. My doctor says I am right on track and doing great. I have only lost 12 lbs! I am a little discouraged but I think it's temporary. I had my first fill on 1/5 and will have my second on 1/27. I don't have but a little restriction right now. It's a struggle. I am at eating 3 oz per meal but I have to say I could eat more. I still have a bad habit of picking in the afternoon. This is when I am home with the kids from school. I need to rearrange my Protein Shake I think. that may help. I hope when I get the next fill it will help. Anyone else feeling a little frustrated right now? I believe this is temporary and I see light at the end of the tunnel. I feel great and am recovered from the surgery and that's fantastic! And, people are starting to notice that I am a little slimmer. That's great! It just feels like right now the band is not working for me but just the band eating plan.

HI boy I feel just like you I was banded on 12/7/2010 and I have also only lost 12 pounds. I have 2 cc in my band I have an appt 2/16/11 hopefully for another fill. It sounds like we are doing the same. My Dr says the same thing but I am frusrated I know it will come but right now I feel like i am just struglling everyday to eat less. I hear once you get to your sweet spot it gets easier. As of now I have a tiny bit of restriction but I don't feel that its the band stopping me yet it's me fighting the hunger. I am trying to be patient. I am happy I found you maybe we can help each other along the way.

I'm quite sure many of you may not even be active any more but those of you who are, would you give us an update on your status for the newbies. For example, have you met your goal? Are you having any problems etc.?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
