New and hoping to ge lapband!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! :) I am somewhat new to forums. I joined some time ago but this is my first actual introduction post. I am very excited to start my journey for lapband! I am very certain that this is the type of surgery that I want. I will be attending a seminar by the beginning of next month and can not wait! That will be my first step to getting this party on the roll. My insurance is BCBS of Delaware and I will have a 6 month structured diet program to follow, so while doing that I plan to stay busy and keep researching and browsing blogs that talk about their experience with the band. It will keep me motivated in this wait! I can not wait!!!!!

Hey guys just wanted to welcome both of you. I haven't been banned yet but I'm hoping to get a surgery date within the next 2 weeks. It's been a long process (almost 4 months since seminar) so prepare yourself and don't get discouraged. Good Luck!

@ Tanya- thanks for the advice about youtube.. I will look that up right now.

@ Amanda1982- I know it will probobly be a long process.. Im just going to ride it out because my insurance has the 6 months of controlled diet program... (yuck) but I figure it will help me.

@ Kimma34- I have the support of my husband and mother.. other than that I am doing this on my own. I choose not to tell anyone for possible ridicule or judgement and I really dont need it at this point. I just want to be happy with my decision and need positive people around. So I will be doing what you are too and coming here for encouragement. There is lots to be found on here.

I wish us all good luck!! We are gonna look HAAAWT!! :D

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
