February 2011 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Just had mine done yesterday. I wrote like a novel about it. It was done with Dr. Robert Snow. I'm doing great and had an excellent experience. See if you can find my posting. I did a very detailed description of my experience. I hope it helps

Hello all,

I too am a February bandster. My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd. These first two days of the pre-op and I must say that I am starving...I am constantly thinking of food. I am praying that this hunger subsides soon. :)))

I too am a February Bandster. I am so excited I can barely contain myself. I will have surgery in exactly 1 week. I am running around getting stuff together to make sure I am prepared~groceries, Protein Shakes, bras, heating pads, and meds.

Is there anyone else getting banded on the 17th???

I'm so glad I came across this group! I am scheduled for next Thursday, Feb. 17. I am: nervous, excited, ready to finally do this (started the journey in May 2010), hungry (preop diet is a killer) and really wondering if I'll be able to do this. So excited to find my fellow Feb. 2011 bandsters!

I have a 7 day preop that consists of two things: Slim Fast and Crystal Light. I am on day 3 and doing well so far, but the first two days were really, really hard. Everyone I talked to said that the first 4 days would be the hardest thing I have to do - it only gets easier from here on out. That remains to be seen, but it got me through the first 2 days so I'll keep thinking that :)

Good luck to you! When is your surgery?

Well my Pre-op diet starts tomorrow and consists of MediFast brand foods. shakes, Soups, and not much else. Very low cal and unsatisfying. I am going to be on the for 2 weeks and surgery is scheduled for the 28th! I am so excited but really scared at the same time. It is such a life change that I am freaking out a little but I am so excited to get healthy and be comfortable in my own skin.

I just wanted to stop in and say hi again today. I re-read the thread today and couldn't believe how easy everyone else's psych eval sounded! Mine was ridiculous! I had to take a 2 hour long evaluation on the computer and then go to 3 appointments to have a "session" with the therapist before she would "sign off" on me. To make matters worse the therapist was about 5'10 and maybe 140lbs!. I have had a terrible time trying to get insurance approval in general. Maybe because we have Tricare, but it has been a nightmare. I'm still afraid I'll get a call that my approval was a mistake! Hopefully they can't take approval away! I am so ready to do this!

I too am on Tricare and my first visit to discuss possible surgery was Nov 13. By Jan 31 I had all my appointments and approval for the surgery to include the surgery date. It moved really fast once I decided to actually do this. I always told myself if my health started going downhill I would immediately do something about it - so I was put on blood pressure meds in Nov - which is why I asked my Dr.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
