Help, I have lost ALL my restriction

Recommended Posts

I was banded Oct. 14, 2010 and have lost 25 lbs and had 2 fills. Was getting good restriction until last week and all of a sudden I have none........what happened? I go in Monday to get a fill.......can they do an x-ray or something? I have NO restriction whatsoever......I could eat a horse. I feel like something has gone wrong. Has anyone had this happen? I used to feel full after my 1/2 cup and now I could eat 2 cups if I wanted. Last time I had a fill I could not stop PBing and getting stuck so they took out 1/2 cc and now I have none. I am so confused and lost about getting this right. I have also been stuck at 25 lbs for over a month now. Thanks........Pat

You may not get an answer until you see your doc. We would just be guessing as to what is going on. Keeping fingers crosses that all is well.

Possibly what has happened is that the 25lbs you lost wasn't all on the outside, some of it was fat lost around your stomach too. Your stomach gets smaller, your band gets looser, you loose some of the appetite dimming.

It's possible they could do an xray, but that depends on whether your doctor thinks you need one. My doctor doesn't use fluoroscopy, he'd have to send me over to the hospital to get it done. If it was needed, ok, but I don't want to have the extra radiation.

Hope they can give you some answers on Monday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
