I had surgery 11/23 and now I am not staying full like I was. Before I would eat a small amount and stay full for 5 hrs and now I will eat and be hungry in about an hour. I can not have my first fill until1/4. Any suggestions for me. I have lost 16 lbs so far and want to keep up with losing

This is pretty common. Post op, I went for 4ish months (or maybe a little longer? Can't remember now) without any restriction and just had to go at it with sheer will power. The only suggestion would be try to eat sensible portions of healthy foods and get in your exercise. Try to just hold out doing the stuff thats good for you until you have some assistance from your band. Since you were banded 3ish weeks ago, are you still on mushies? You may feel a bit more satisfied when you transition to solid foods (but don't make that transition until your doc tell you to...just follow you post op plan).

I know exactly what you are saying! I gained back 4 pounds and luckily got my first fill today. Proteins will cut the hunger for sure. I would try to make good choices and eat as much as I need to feel satisfied. Limbo is awful...hope Jan 4th gets here quickly. One thing I have learned is make the appt for next time when you go in. AND make sure you get your band filled to a quality level when you go in depending on your size band.

You can also try drinking lots of Water and other very low calorie (5 to 10) fluids like Crystal lite. It won't work a long time, but it will help tide you over a little until the next "feeding time".

Sounds just like me. I was banded on 11/16/10. Did well initially but starting feeling hungry by about week 3 and gained back 4 lbs. I just had my first fill today – 3cc so I am hoping this will provide good restriction and help me lose more weight. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much for the advice I will try the Water today was not a good day though. There was a baby shower at work today and a month of not eating carbs ate some chips. I feel extremely quilty about it. Tomorrow is a new day and I will start all over and focus on my will power

I have never been satisfied for 5 hours. It's more like 2.5. I was banded in May. It took a number of fills to get to a restriction where I didn't feel like I was starving. I was either puking or starving. Only now, 7 months down the road, am I able to feel satisfied. I'm losing very slowly but I'll take anything I can get.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
