Question for those who have reached their goal weight

Recommended Posts

I am wandering what happens once you reach your goal weight? Do they take some Fluid out so you can eat a little more to help maintain weight or how does it work?

I am curious because I like maybe 25 pounds from being at goal weight. Currently, I can only eat maybe 5-10 bites of food before I am full, which is helping me lose the weight. I am just curious as to what happens. Thanks so much!

I am not at goal but want to be able to get to goal can not seem to get there. Have lost 82 lbs in 16 months but it is so hard to get last part to go away. How did you do it?? I really watch what I eat and workout every night. Any help would be great. Also I will never take out Fluid out of my band it is to hard to lose now can't imagine what would happen with no fill. I can eat and drink fine.

I have been at goal for over 2 yrs now. The way I see the band and maintenance is "Never too tight and never too lite" is the way to go...try to be able to eat "normally" but smaller amounts. If you are very restricted right now, you might want to wait till you get to maintenance and see how your scale does. Not a lot of difference between maintenance and the weight loss stage. Just had to figure out what it took for sure (calorie-wise) and go from there.

I have kept my band fairly loose during the entire LB process and even now. I would rather get hungry every few hours than suffer the affects of a too tight band. Just my take on it.

I think I am a little tight now, but I may get some taken out because sometimes I do have problems eating. Are you able to eat different things now since you are in the maintenance stage?

I have always pretty much eaten most things but I make sure they are healthy. I do not like fatty foods or sweets. Just feel so much better eating whole foods. I do have a bit of luck on my side in that my metabolism switched over to be what it was when I was in my early 20's. I am not real limited on what I can eat.

I'm afraid I will hit a roadblock before I get to goal. It hasn't come yet and maybe it won't. I'm not going to lie. I haven't been the best patient in regards to eating right and exercising, but I have lost consistently. I honestly don't know how I have lost weight like I have. I just cannot eat a lot of anything except popcorn. It seems I can eat all that I want.

The other day I went shopping with my mother. I didn't eat Breakfast at all. At about 11:30, we went to Cracker Barrel. I just got two side order of veggies. I maybe ate half a cup or a little more. I ate something for supper, but food just doesn't taste good to me anymore. I don't know what it is.

I'm 24 so I think my age/metabolism or whatever is helping me lose the weight. I hope I will be able to eat certain foods again in the future, but it's not a big deal because stuff just doesn't taste good anymore.

I think your age has a lot to do with it. Lucky you, your skin will probably bounce right back in place too. Lose as much as you can while you body is willing to drop it maybe you will not have a roadblock getting to your goal. I too did not care about food for months at a time. It was nice. When was your surgery?. I just love that dog I know I told you that before but I can't help saying it again!!

Thank you. I tried replying to your last message you sent, but it wouldn't let me for some reason. I didn't want you to think I was ignoring you or anything.

I had surgery on Feb. 8 of this year. I'm down about 75 pounds. I want to get somewhere between 150-160. Then I guess I need to firm up. LOL. My skin has done pretty well so far.

I did get a message from you must have went through. Wow you are doing great! Keep up the good work. I wished I would have done this at your age. My life would have been so different, not that I have any complaints but I could go through the same things skinny too.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
