Hiatal hernia repair

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 11/30/10 and at the same time had my hiatal hernia repaired. Ever sense then ive got really bad back pain mid to middle. My doctor doesnt think it has anything to do with that and thinks i strained my back some how. Which i have no clue how i could have done that. Has anyone else had this problem? Because im in so much pain. Thanks

I was banned on December 8th. I also had the same repair for Hiatal Herina. I am only 2 days out of surgery but my back feels fine.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

I was re-banded on December 6th due to a slip I had...While repairing that they also found a large hiatal hernia and repaired it which was probably causing my heartburn...Since then i've been pretty uncomfortable, not so much the band but where the hernia was repaired. I have the back pain, and I feel like a elephant is sitting on my chest, and It is also a little difficult for me to take a deep breath...Did u feel like that also?

No ive never felt like that at all. Just bad back pain. I never even knew i had a hernia until i started in this program never had heartburn or anything. I almost wish they would have left it alone.

I was banded five days ago, and had a hiatal hernia and ventral hernia repaired at the same time. I'm in minimal pain, and my back is fine. I suspect you strained your back somehow, perhaps by trying to compensate after surgery to minimize pain in your stomach area. Using muscles you weren't used to using could easily do that.

Hang in there.

Danielle, with symptoms like you described you should really be seen by a doc. This could be heart or lung problems.

I was banded 2 months ago. I also had the hernia repair. I also had the back pain. My doc told me it was likely from me overcompensating to not use my stomach muscles.

I had a hard time breathing in and was very short of breath after walking for a few minutes. This went away about a week after surgery.

I too had a hiatal hernia repair and I have been short of breath and I am having problems swallowing. Tomorow will be the beginning of week 4 for me.I feel like things get stuck and almost like I am being strangled from the inside. It is so uncomfortable. I hope this improves soon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
