fullness in chest??

Recommended Posts

I got another fill Tuesday and I'm now at 6 cc's. So far I've eaten some soft/mushy foods with no problems.

Here's my question though when I drink or like this morning after I took my medicine I have a full feeling but it's in my chest and not in my stomach. Does that make sense? It goes down no problem but it's like I can feel it, what I mean is it's not getting stuck but it's like I can feel it. Do you know what I mean?

It's hard to describe. LOL But is it just b/c my band is getting tight now?

YESSS!!! That's it!!! Full is different with the band. You will no longer feel it in the stomach. You're feeling restriction. YAAAAAY!!!!

Yeah- the stomach is way higher than most people think. Most people think of the stomach as being down by the belly button or below. That's where our intestines are. And the top of the stomach is more like just under the ribcage, at the center of the chest, where it meets the esophagus. It is weird to feel fullness there, but you get used to it!

Okay so if I always have a certain amount of fullness in my chest then how do I know when I'm full and when to stop eating?

For food I've been eating about a 1/4 cup and then stopping.

Last night though I needed my Protein shake. 3/4 of the way through it I started feeling really full and I didn't know if I should finish it or not so I dumped it out. I made it with almond milk so even though it was a liquid it was slightly thick like a milkshake consistency. I just don't want to mess up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
