Total restriction (suddenly)?

Recommended Posts

Cocoabean, my doctor didn't do an upper GI- I actually didnt wnat to pay for one. It was an emergency visit and they were going to charge me $700, so I just asked to have my band totally drained to see if that would solved the problem and IT DID! The band did not slip after all, it was my nerves shutting down my stomach and not allowing me to eat, creating total restriction.

Yikes to the $700.00! Thanks for the clarification. Just wanted to be certain that the fact that you can now swallow after the unfill means that you were not slipped (I know that is what you indicated above) for my own knowledge, as I post here quite a bit, and want to be able to help other folk.

I am glad your stomach is feeling better, sorry it cost $300 as it was. I can understand the stress.

I do wish you all the best for your upcoming surgery. Will you undergo chemo after that, or is that yet to be determined?

Removal of all Fluid is half the treatment for a minor slip anyways. I think the other half is to go on liquids.. not sure, haven't been there and hope I don't.

I understand the stress of cancer.. btdt. Hope you have excellent results.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
