My doctor went into an urgent care office so I needed a new PCP I started my first month today. He seemed almost irritated that I was needing him just to sign off once a month. I showed him my paperwork and he said that was fine but we would only actually see me every other month, the other months a nurse would take my numbers. Is that ok? Do i just need his signature or what?

I am kinda confused:huh2:, i thought the dr would know what to do??

What has your experience been? What did you go over every month?

I will go next week for month 2. So very new to this also. I had the Doctors office (the doc that is going to do my LapBand) set me up with a person that does this all the time instead of going to my normal doctor...I didn't want anything messed up.. I just don't want to go through all this and have something missing and get denied. Not sure on the nurse thing though...Might want to call your Lapband doctors staff and ask.

It seems like everyone has a little something different to do on their 6 month diet. I am heading into month 5 and opted to take the diet & nutrition classes through my surgeon's office. It costs me a little more than if I had just gone to my PCP but like SDTeaGirl I was too affraid to have something messed up. I would imagine as long as the doctor is signing off on your paperwork that it wouldn't matter if you saw him or a nurse. I agree though you might want to verify that with your surgeon or your insurance. Good luck with your program!

FYI in two years I have NEVER met my PCP. I always see the Nurse Practioner. Also keep in mind that a year ago I had a stroke at 39 and was in the hospital for a week (ICU for 3 days). Could'nt belive that she could'nt take the time to meet with me. So as long as the numbers are being documented I don't think there is an issue. After all you are'nt really meeting with him for diet advice are you? Seems that anything like that would be with a Nut or Dietician. I had to meet with a Nutricianist twice presurgery; fromt he surgeons office.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
