I Hate You All!

Recommended Posts

I hate all of you that got your surgery covered by insurance!! lol :) I have a good job, I make decent money ($100 of which comes out of EACH paycheck for my CRAPPY insurance!) and yet there of course is a exclusion clause in our healthcare plan for WLS. I think it's SO WRONG that insurance providers are able to do this to people that NEED this for their health! So now I'm forced to put myself in a big hole of debt that I really can't afford in the first place, just to help myself be healthy..... Makes me so mad... I'm jealous of all of you that had your surgery covered! You're lucky! :crying:

The only reason my insurance covered mine is that I had met my deductible (sky high by the way) by having had CANCER and needing surgery for that before I got banded. I understand your frustrations, but really.. it could be worse.

I was self pay and I kinda regret the big hole of debt I got myself into. I used a lower interest card but still. . . has been a big burden financially and frankly. . I'm doing kinda crappy! (My own fault, I'm an emotional eater and sadly the band doesn't fix that!) Be wise financially and good luck to you!

Thank you so much SunD1! Stick with it - I wish you the best of luck!!!

I'm self pay also, I moved back in with my mom to cover my monthly payment. 400.00 a month for 3 years. That was my rent, so that it how I justified it.Could have bought a brand new car, but I would be big and fat and depressed driving around in a nice car, or I could be thin and happy driving around in a beat up truck.:lol: I chose the thin happy and beat up truck easily over fat and miserable riding in style!

kelly - that's EXACTLY how I feel! I could not agree with you more.... sacrifices will be made no matter what, you just have to pick and choose your battles!

My insurance covered my surgery. I will have it done November 15th, Monday. My doctor is out of network so I had to pay 4200 dollars out of pocket. He did this because it covers the next two full years of fills or God forbid, any other surgery I may need. ie, slips, etc. My ride so far has been well worth it, even though I haven't had the surgery yet. I have been taken off of all meds except my physch med was changed to a smaller one. I can hardly wait to see what life has in store for me in the future.

lady - I am thinking of you now since your surgery is today, I hope you're doing well, make sure and check back in with us and let us know how it went.

I think your decision to pay the extra out of pocket is a good "insurance clause" (no pun intended....lol). That will let you rest easy at night knowing if there's any problems you're covered!

Wow Melissa, over 170 lbs lost?! That's awesome for you! And on top of that being a cancer survivor, as am I - I can definitely relate! Best of luck to you!

I saved up the money and then got my surgery in Mexico, This way I do not have a montly payment. Good thing to because we have a Commercial Plumbing Company and anyone in the Construction field these days seems to be really struggling at least us with small Businesses. I can't afford the Cosmetic surgery I really need now but at least the weight is gone.

hi kimaly - who was your doc? I, too, am going to Mexico. Surgery date is Jan 28 with Dr. Aceves. I am excited.... I am paying cash for half and putting the other half on a zero interest CC.

I went to Dr. Rodriquez in Juarez. I was really pleased. I hear alot of good things about Dr. Aceves also. i'm really happy for you. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Sometimes it can be tough but well worth it in the long run.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
