Slipped or not?

Recommended Posts

What kind of signs do I look for if I consider that there might be a slippage.

I just hear a lot of different stories like there is a lady who had a flu and her band clipped because she was coughing...

I have a flu... I am couching... I do not want to go into an emergency surgery...

What are some signs?

Reflux.....I don't know how much you would have to cough to cause it to slip, but throwing up will cause slippage. I wish I had known that reflux was not just being too tight, but also slippage....they do an easy swallow test to tell if you have slippage....you also don't have to have surgery immideatly, they will take Fluid out first. Check with you Dr. Good luck.......

I too have the flu. I am not going to have any unfill. My surgeon said if you have to cough alot due to flu or something go to Dr and get a prescription cough med. They gave me Hycodan and one teaspoon every 4 - 6 hours. I really works.

My band slipped a month ago - had to in for a revision surgery. Signs of slippage for me were MAJOR reflux and then and inability to even keep down a sip of Water after a few days of non-stop vomiting. Hate to put it this way, but if it's a slip, you'll kinda *know*...

Good luck and hope all is well!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
