;-) Hi all: I am new to this site and currently going through the process of getting to a surgery date. I have finally decided to definitely go with the band so I thought I would come here and start getting the LOW-down on everything I need to know. I have read threads on this site for a couple of weeks and I am finally joining. My name is Andrea (46 F) mother of 3 and am so looking forward to getting closer to the day I finally get MY Christmas gift for myself!!! SURGERY.

Thanks

Andrea (momthecommish)

Welcome Andrea! I am also a 46 F (single) mother of three, two in college & one at home, and am giving myself the lapband for Christmas TOMORROW!! So no prime rib for me as I will be on liquids, but what a way to start 2006. I don't quite have any advice for you yet, but give me a couple days....Merry Christmas! Kim

 I am new to this site too, Andrea. 47 - year old female, married, two teenage boys.

I am scheduled to go to an "Informational Meeting" with a doctor here in Buffalo on January 6th. I have been on a waiting list for one year just to get into this meeting. I guess after that, it goes quickly. I canceled gastric bypass surgery for last summer - just couldn't do it. I feel as though the lap band is a better tool for weight loss.

I wish you the best of luck!! This seems like a wonderful site for support and information. Hope to hear about your progress!

Mary

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
