Tightness a month after fill

Recommended Posts

Hi-I don't know where to turn. I was banded 3 months ago and have lost 40lbs! I got my 2nd fill about a month ago. Last week, about 30 mins after I ate, I got all light-headed, clammy, dizzy and axious and had severe nausea all at once. Even though most of it went away after a few minutes, the nausea persisted as did the anxiety.(I have never had a panic attack in my life) The next morning I ate and 30 mins later same thing. Went the ER and they did tests and said I have gallstones and anxiety. So then I had an episode again the next day(at this time I was barely eating anything cause they told me to eat bland, gallstone diet.) Went to the gallbladder surgeon & he said my symptoms were a-typical of gallbladder-espcially since I haven't had pain. He felt like it was something to do with the lap band. I called Dr. who did my band and went in. He was surprised at my symptoms cause it sounds like "dumping syndrome" associated with gastric bypass. He took out .5cc & told me to come back in a few days if it's not better and he will take out more and I will need an upper GI. I have gurgling sometimes and have it seems like tightness in my throat. Is there anyone out there that has had anything remotely close to this that can give me advice? THanks so much!!

I have tightness in my throat and gurgling sometimes, but it starts while eating, not later. No nausea or your other symptoms though.

I have had the other symptoms (all light-headed, clammy, dizzy) at various times in my life previous to banding, - one time I was told it was shock (it was a few hours after having a tooth pulled).

How is your health otherwise, you have lost a lot in a short time?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
