I am being banded tomorrow and would like to get opinions/experiences with the post op diet. I'd appreciate your input. I have questions like what/when/how much to eat. Seems like different doctors recommend different things, so...

Because you wont be able to get out for a few days you may wanna pick up some chicken broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free applesauce and applejucie. and get some type of Protein Shake. my doctor put me on one so i had one already. Make sure you also by some chewable gas-x. whatever you do get that if nothing else. These are the basics. Make sure you have someone stay with you all tomorrow to help you up and down. I had my husband and mom thank God. I couldnt even pull my underwear down atfirst because my stomach was tooo sore. That's about all i can think of. Good luck and God bless.

I filled the freezer with Soups, I made and froze meals for the rest of the family, did the grocery shopping for the week the night before I went into hospital and had plenty of ingredients for smoothies etc on hand.

sugar free applesauce and apple juice? What brand(s) and where can I find it? I have looked all over and I can only find no sugar added juice and sauce. Thanks.

Motts makes sugar free applesauce sweetened with Splenda. It's quite good and my kids love it. They actually ask me to buy it! If you have a Super Walmart nearby, check there, it is in the individual 1/2 cup serving cups. For juice, I'm not sure. None of us are juice drinkers, I'd have to search myself. I have found that Walmart has the biggest selection in my area.

Good luck, I hope you are doing well

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
