24lbs in first 4 weeks... why so fast in the start?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been very surprised on how fast I am loosing weight. I haven't had my 5 week fill and I already lost 24lbs.

I presume it is leap at the start and then it goes down to 2-4lbs a week?

I wish it wouldn't stop. I could reach my goal in 5 months or so. :)

So, how soon will I stop loosing so rapidly - how did it happen to you?

Congrats on your weight loss! I think its fantastic! I am losing very slowly so far so I think that its great that you are having such quick loss! I hope that It will contnue for you! whatever you are doing is working for you! i was banded 10/12 and havent lost an ounce in the last two weeks. Most of what I lost after surgery I think was Fluid and most of my weight loss was before surgery. I hope that it wont slow down for you, some arelucky like that! Good luck to you!

I was banded in May and it seems to be steady for me like 1 to 2lbs a week which is fine for me. I have hit a couple of really slow points but seem to get through them. Keep it up and you will be fine especially once you hit restriction then you should be good but remember exercise is very important to be successful overall.. Good luck!!!!

I was banded on October 8th and between the 2week pre-op diet and the surgery I'm down roughly 21lbs. I can't seem to lose anything else. I haven't had a fill - my first one is Nov 16. I know that I might have to have a few fills before that restriction starts to work. I just keep eating as if I am filled. It's alittle nerve wracking bc I am not eating a fraction of what I use to and still haven't lost more weight! I'm keeping with it bc Iknow it's just a matter of time but it is frustrating!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
