what kind of mushies?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 10/26, wasn't hungry till about 2 days ago, but have till 11/10 to stay on liquids. Why is it some doctors have you on liquids 2 days or 1 week or 2weeks like in my case? I am starting to feel alittle weak, have lost 11 pounds in 1 week! I know at this stage you are to just be concern with healing , so i am kind of worried. I have to go back to work monday and i don't know if i can get do it.

Next, when i do get to eat mushies, what are some that are good for you? I need ideas. My doctor did put 3 cc in at time of surgery, do i doubt i have any restriction. comments, please........................................................:)

Congrats on being banded - my surgery was on 10-25. I think that each doctor has their own set of rules when it comes to how long diet restrictions are set. I was on Clear Liquids from 10-26 up until 10-30, and now I'm on soft foods. I was actually really nervous about what I was going to be able to eat, but it really hasn't been hard. Scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, oatmeal, roast beef hash, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, refried Beans mixed with some salsa and sprinkled with cheese - I also like my refried Beans with roasted red and yellow peppers (they become super soft and mushie) I pureed some cannellini beans and added a little bit of pesto, put it in a baking dish, sprinkled with some grated parm - good stuff!

I even made an italian chicken stew in my crock pot that had stewed tomatoes, herbs, spices, zucchini, green beans, bone in chicken thighs and breats - cooked it all day and shredded the chicken - then I portioned it out in small containers. The possiblities are endless - you just have to think outside the box. Let me know if any of these things work for you - I'd LOVE to hear your feed back. Congratulations and good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
