Question on Being Full

Recommended Posts

I was banded almost a year ago. I have never felt full for more then 3 hours or so. I have always factored in Snacks into my daily diet. I lost steadily, now maintaining a 107 pound weight loss. I often eat 6 times a day. I snack on things such as beef Jerky, almonds, cheese sticks. Good luck in your journey!
I'm with vlp--a three-hour stretch is pretty darn good!

I really have learned that "full" is a completely different thing now, too. Instead of "full," I'm simply "not hungry."

I have to second and third Betsy and vlp. I had my 2nd fill yesterday(No issues this time!) which brings me to 6cc in a 14cc band and have found I eat 1/2 to 3/4 cup(total) of food and I am full for 3 to 4 hours. Not stuffed but like Betsy B said and I'm not hungry. I also eat 5 to 6 times a day but I eat 3 small meals and have 3 to 4 Snacks a day. I snack on natural almonds, yogurt, a slice of cheese or Protein bar. I am NEVER starving but I do get hungry. It is so cool to be learning the differance. I have lost 38 pounds since 8-15-10

It has taken over 40 years to put all this weight on and it is gonna take some time to loose it.

I would actually argue that you need another fill. I've only had two, but I'm definitely not hungry after three or four hours (although it's starting to creep back a little). I'd agree with some others that you should step up the Protein a little. I cheat sometimes (with a cookie or something) but never have rice or Pasta as part of a meal. Most of my skinny friends tend to have Protein and a vegetable for dinner and since carbs don't always work well with the band anyway, I decided to follow suit.

Best of luck to you! I really think you'll know your sweet spot when you see it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
