What type of diet did you go on?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. Does anyone on here go to Bluepoint Surgical Group or have Bluecross Blueshield inurance? I have an appointment this Friday to discuss and hopefully start the process of a 6 month recommend diet. I was just wondering what type of diets they offer. Almost a year ago I visited a different office that offers the Lapband and they gave me the choice of Jenny Craig, Weight watchers, and Optifast. Did anybody else do a different type of diet? I feel that those cost too much at this time for me. I just want to go ahead and start looking into my options so when my appointment comes I can have in mind what I already want to do and get this ball rolling!! I don’t want to waste anymore time then what I already have!!!:sneaky:

I went this last Monday for my 1st appt with Doc. I found out that I have to do a 6 month diet plan. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. But they said all BCBS are the same. I have to do my 6 months with a Doc or a Nutrionist. Good luck. This is my 3rd day on diet and have lost 1.5 lbs. Probably from not eating out... LOL. Its pretty simple went into see Doc/Nut. andthey asked how much weight you want to lose, what type of surgery, talked about calorie intake, exersice and what long term and short term goals. Had you set what I wanted to do this month. I put lose 4-5 lbs, exercise 2 x per week and try around 1600 calories and to do a more well balanced diet. Hope this helps. Sounds like you are about the same place in your journey. Oh...If you can get into Dco/Nut. this month of October yet it will count for a month!!! This is what I did.

I have BCBS/MA, they didn't require the 6 mos diet. I had to do the psych, sleep study and meet w/ nutritionist - I did all w/n a 2-wk period and was approved the following week.

The doc asked me to loose 10 pounds prior to surgery, which was accomplished w/ the 2-wk liquid diet.

BCBS just recently received approved my TT w/lipo, which I've scheduled for Dec - I've read that most insurances won't pick up the cost of anything but the panni. I'm not sure how it works, whether the employer opts for certain coverages or what the deal is.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
