I was banded on the 15th, and am still on the liquid phase. But I I am allowed to have a small liquid yogurt. Today I tried it for the first time and not even through half of it I felt full and uncomfortable. I shouldn't have any restriction at the moment, so why do I get this feeling?

Thanks

It's possible you're still swollen from the surgery. You could try eating the yogurt over a period of 20 minutes.

I had swelling from my surgery about 6-8 days after my surgery, maybe even more.

You may also have a small band. :-)

Don't stress...Just wait it out.

It could be from the swelling but it also could be from the Fluid they put in the band during surgery. I know I personally had 3 cc's put in at surgery and I see a lot of others post similar things.

It is possible you will have restriction without fills. I had surgery June 28, 2010 and have yet to have a fill and have had restriction the whole time. I know there aren't many like me but from being on here I know I am not the only one who has experienced restriction the whole time.

My nurse from the hospital I was at had it done and she was the same. It's more common than I thought.

Thanks for the feed back, I will definatly try and eat slower, that is probably at least part of the problem. I have always been a fast eater and I have to remind myself that things are different now.

I was banded on 10/06 and I still feel full after only a small amount. I am on mushies now, and I can barely get down 1 cup of yogurt. A Protein shake even fills me up and I can barely finish it. I guess I'm glad, but I honestly can't imagine getting my first fill (scheduled for that in 3 weeks). I don't think I'll be able to hold anything.

Well..you should not be able to get down a cup of yogurt..even after several months..no more then 4oz is the rule of thumb..especially so close to post op. 4oz of food should be effort at this point..and you will see once things all calm down you will be able to get in maybe 6 oz...however-- never over eat..and the biggest thing..is slow..and listen..to your body..there is such a disconnect between our stomachs and brain..and you have to work and reconnect it..it will happen...trust me..Good luck !!!

yep it is perfectly normal, remember this is a whole process and you have got to take it slowly....so before you know it you'll start feeling better and getting better intake of your food and liquids. best of luck:thumbup:

Everyone is different. My husband was banded a week after me and neither of us have any Fluid in our bands yet (I go tomorrow). The Dr. said he was going to be tighter than me because generally men are and because he had more fat on his stomach making the band tighter. I have been able to eat as much as I want and he is still not able to eat a whole 6 oz. yogurt in one sitting. He annoys me! JK LOL Good luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
