Where did my restriction go?

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill a few weeks ago. I was doing great. I was getting full on a cup of food 3 times a day.

Now the past few days I'm starving and I can eat way more than a cup and don't feel anywhere near full.

My next fill is next week. Is this normal?

Yes, its normal.

That's why you need to keep getting fills. That's how the band works.

Click here for a good explanation of how this works

Thank you for that link! I just didn't think I would lose restriction so quickly!

I've lost almost 10 pounds since my last fill.

Amanda...

I'll get my first fill in 2 weeks...How long did your 1st feel last before you felt it was gone?

I've lost almost 10 pounds since my last fill.

I've had two fills so far and have had similar results to you. Good restriction for the first couple of weeks and then it wears off a little.

Its perfectly normal.

You just need to be on guard when the restriction is not as strong and be extra careful about what you are eating.

Its completely normal to lose restriction fast with first fills, it happens less fast as you get closer to your ideal restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
