Caution!: Over fill!

Recommended Posts

I've had my lap band for... gee... over two years now! I've lost 80 pounds, I'm HOT and I feel great.

I really wanted to lose a few more pounds and by band was at 7cc's. Well, I went in and got .5cc's. MISTAKE

I got home and couldn't even swallow my own spit. I was throwing up foamy spit all night last night and even woke up choking on it. I wouldn't swallow my own spit, girls! Can you even imagine!?!?

Well, I went in and got .25cc's taken out and boy, do I feel better. I'm on a liquid diet for 48 hours now, but I am just happy to be able to drink some water!

...anyway, that was weird. Interesting night.

Good to know. I was debating getting another fill even if I think I'm at my sweet spot. Glad you are doing better.

That is very interesting Weas, i was banded about a month ago, and now that i can eat soft food i find i have pretty good restriction, my very first fill is on Oct 28th, i'm wondering if i should cancel it? It takes me a while to get yogurt down, and it's probably about 1/2 cup. I'll make a decision closer to the date i guess,

Congrats on your success!

I'd ask you doctor about it, but I can't see why you need a fill yet. My doctor's opinion was that as long as you were losing and you weren't overly hungry, you should wait. I didn't get a fill until almost 4 months after surgery. It worked well for me. I've been too tight and it is no fun.

Being too tight is not fun for sure. I have had several small fills that pushed me over the edge. Strangely enough each time he took out more than what he put in and it gave me good restriction. I am at goal and am in a good place. Let's hope it stays that way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
