The port incision is normally bigger than the other incisions. most of my incisions are a half inch at most and my port incision is 2 inches.

Yeah for me the side that was hurting the worst was where my port was, and it is my longest incision. mine is right under my rib cage on the right side.

My incisions are bigger than everybody elses. I feel like a science project  The dr said it was because I have a thick abdomen wall. Sounds like he just didn't know what he was doing. Most people I know have one one of their incision in their belly button so you really can't see it. I've seen on YouTube that they are doing the procedure with one incision. That would have been awesome.

Herravan, I asked about single incision and my doctor said "Not at your weight". I was 281 at surgery; so I think you have to be low BMI to only have one incision.

My biggest incision was in my belly button and my port is just to the right of it. The other ones are 1/2 inch if that. They were SUPER small.

I know a girl that had bypass like 7 years ago and she has a HUGE scar all the way down her chest and stomach.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
