5 days post-op, can i get the gas pain now?

Recommended Posts

I thought i was one of the lucky ones with no gas pains in my shoulder, however today at 5 days post op i'm feeling horrible pain in my left shoulder and under my breast. Has anyone else gotten gas pains this many days after surgery?

YES mine started yesterday after being banded 9/30, It comes and goes and have found that gas-x and the heating pad helps.

I will take it all day long over Nausea, indigestion, and the tight feeling. That has gotten better, although I have a pill stuck at this very moment!

Good Luck!

Hi Blessed-

I'm with you 100% that I will take the neck and shoulder pain over the nausea which seems to have past for me as of today. I'm still scared every time i drink or eat Soup that I'm going to get nausea again. Thanks for the update, I'm going try the GasX tomorrow and the heating pad tonight if it gets bad.

Smiles

Hi there! I was banded 10-01 and I had gas pain in the beginning and it ended but then tonite...here it is again. My left shoulder and down the back of my ribcage. Ouch! I think I may have overdone it today and maybe thats why or maybe it just takes awhile for it to totally work out. OK, off the gas thing...have either of you had a BM yet? I know it's a creepy question but I'm curious...I haven't. I am not in pain but just wondering how long is too long?

Thanks for being here!

I'm in the same boat...no shoulder pain for first few days and I'm now 8 days post op and still having shoulder pain, worse than before. I wonder how long this will last?

I am 2 weeks post op and still have the shoulder pain sometimes. As for BM..I was 5 days post op and am still having a hard time with it. I am taking Colace daily and it seems to be helping some.

My gas pains lasted about 6-7 days but still have the shoulder pain. Took 5 days to have a BM - I started drinking prune juice to help.

Hi Fluffy

I'm sorry you are in the same boat as me with the gas pain, it is not fun. However I had some severe nausea before and I'm just so pleased that has passed. I'm hoping to return to work tomorrow, wish me luck!

As for the BM, I had 2 loose stools since surgery. I'm not surprised that you have not, we are just not eating enough to warrant that at this time! Hang in there!

I think I had the gas pain, but for me, it felt like I really needed to crack my neck, but couldn't.

Thanks you guys...glad it's not just me! Always awkward to ask questions like that but I guess since we are all pretty much in the same boat, somebody will ask it sooner or later! I've only had Protein Shakes, broth, sf Jello and Water so maybe you're right...not much to come out! Keep me posted on your progress!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
