Recommended Posts

I am looking for a mentor in my area. Is anyone available? I was banded Sept. 16th. No problems yet, just looking for a friend.

Where are you in RI? I am in North Central CT on the MA border. We could be buddies. I am not banded yet. I have about 2 months before I am.

Hi Nicole!

I am just south of Providence in Warwick. I would be more than happy to chat if you have any questions. I was banded just under 1 month ago. I still have had no major issues, just the routine troubles that arise. Maybe helping someone through this process would be beneficial for me by keeping my spirits up! My starting weight was 308 and I am down about 15 pounds so far. Overall, I think this has been the right decisions, though I have moments where its a bit challenging to believe that. You will do great though, and realize how great of a decision you made!

Hi, to the both of you. I live in Cranston, RI and was banded last Dec and have lost 56pds. ( I am very happy with the weight loss), through this time I had experience many acid reflex issues. I could really use a Buddy to talk with.

Hi I live in south central Ma on the CT border but RI is only a 10 minute ride for me. My surgery date is Nov 16th. I started the pre-op liquid diet on Saturday. I am very excited about my new life! Hope to find a buddy here. Good luck to everyone! :)Could someone tell me how I can get a weight tracker that I have seen many people have?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
