Miserable- plz tell me I'm not the only one

Recommended Posts

So I am 4 days post op and completely miserable. The gas pains scks my stomach is sore and my head is pounding so bad I'm nauseas. Call me a cry baby but I was literally crying today regretting that I ever did this. At this point I would be much happier at work having a salad for lunch. I guess I just need to vent. I hate this feeling and hope it goes away.

It was around day 4 that I was at the point that you are at now. I was wondering what in the world had I done to myself. It gets better. I wouldn't change getting the Lap-band done for the world. I'm so glad that I did it now.

True, I hear that walking is the best thing for the gas pains. I, didn't realize it was gas pain until I read about it on this forum, so I suffered for days after surgery. I am sure that your headache makes you want to just cover you head and stay in bed. Are you able to take something for the headache? Are you hydrated? You are early in the healing process so be kind to yourself. Make sure you are getting the nourishment/water you need to help you heal quickly. One day in the not-too-distant future this will be but memory ... and you will have a new body and your only worry will be how to get the bags of new clothes into the house without your husband seeing! LOL!

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh dear! I remember those pains! But like others have said, walking seriously helps. I used to walk at night, 1 coz I was suffering head aches too and there was no light at night, and 2 because its so much cooler at night!

Just get up and get moving and the gas will pass! Quite literally! Haha!

Good luck!

I remember those 4-5 post op days. I text my husband and told him I wanted this thing outta me. Walking hardly helped with the gas and gas x was a joke. The only thing that really did it for me was a heating pad. I didn't stop walking though.

Feel better soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
