Feeling weak... Tired... HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

Please advice. Any feedback please...

I was banded on July 30th, one day shy of two months.. For the past 3 weeks maybe more.. I have been feeling weak... Now it's to the point I can barely get out of bed! Had my second fill that finally gave me restriction on 9/21... Complained to the MD who only stated I was losing weight too quickly! Down 30 since surgery 60 since I began the process 1st of Feb... I was feeling great had all this energy then all of a sudden.. A dead stop! I'm so upset, confused and feel like such a crappy wife and mom... I'm doing less now than I did at just under 400lbs!! I'm an emotional mess! and crying over this is not working either! Has anyone else had this type of an experience?? I'm no longer able to do even a min on my exercise bike, walk or even think of emerging out of my home! Where did all my energy go? I have a hard time believing what my MD stated when I see shows like biggest losers and people are dropping 30/40lbs exercising 3hrs a day and I can't even lift a leg!!! Please anyone someone Help!!!

Thanks,

Lucy:crying:

Is there any possibilty that you are depressed? I know when I am depressed I hurt and am extemely tired. It takes everything I have just to move a little bit.

If not, how is your calorie and Protein intake? Are you exercising? Changed your routine any?

have you had your thyroid checked or your hormones? weight loss greatly affects both of those. every 15 lbs I lose I have to get my thyroid meds adjusted because I feel the exact same way! also, estrogen is stored in our fat cells and when we lose weight (especially fast) the estorgen gets depleted. I feel like a new woman when I get my hormone therapy. please talk to your pcp or a hormone specialist....your bariatric doc may not be able to take the time to fully explore what's going on. btw both those things are figured by an easy blood test.

hope you're feeling better soon!! keep me posted on if you go to the doc and what he says

Thanks to all of u who replied... I am on depression meds.. Maybe I'm not eating enough... I do start with Protein first... Mostly eat only fish the greek yogurts and such.. Have to be honest to put anything in my mouth prior to 12n or lpm usually doesn't happen.. Not feeling hungry usually just downing a cup or two of coffee.. And yes I hadn't thought of it but I am on thyroid med and haven't had my levels checked in quite sum time!!! Will call MD for blood work and ck in with the office with my mostly likely not so good eating schedule/diet...

Thanks again to u all!

Lucy

I have always been anemic ever since I had my daughter 5 years ago, but since being banded I have been whats called super anemic where my Iron is extermely low which makes me tired, weak, and have lots of headaches. I just didn't feeling like doing very much at all. It gets even worse when my cycle comes along but now I take an extra iron pill on top my whats in my Vitamins and that did the trick for me. I hope this helps and you feel better soon.

Two super important things that help me

1) Make sure to get enough Protein

2) Make sure to get enough Water

This is my go to and has worked everytime.

I would suggest you get your Iron levels, including iron stores checked. My sister had Gastric Bypass and suddenly lost all energy and that was her problem. More of a risk with GB than the band though.

I had a period of extreme exhaustion about a year ago (pre-band). I was eating well, losing weight and working out 5 days a week....but I just couldn't stay awake. It was during that time that I learned that I had sleep apnea. Could that be a possibility?

Hope you get to feeling better.

I second all the recommendations so far. I'd add journaling your food intake someplace like fitday.com to make sure you're meeting your nutrient needs. I'd also discuss, with the prescribing MD, antidepressants--because your dosage or med might require adjustment.

I'd also be sure to take a good-quality bariatric Multivitamin.

Finally, Co Q-10 supplements have made a HUGE difference in how I feel. When I run out, I really notice.

I think the fact that you are not eating Breakfast is a problem. Since you like Greek Yogurt try having it for Breakfast. I recently started adding 1 Tablespoon of Fit Bare Naked Granola. I also add a couple tablespoons of whey Isolate vanilla Protein powder and splendra. I do have to put it in a tuperware since it does'n fit well in the yogurt cup.

I can relate to feeling exausted. I am on an anti seizer medication and blood thinner to to treat a blood clot from last year. I don't know if it's one of the other or the combination of them together but they really knock me for a loop.

Yep Protein and Water - are you losing hair? That's when I knew I wasn't getting enough in....my hair was thinning! ACK!

Hang in there --- you'll find your happy medium -- it takes time and persistence....as they say "it's a tool and not a quick fix"....so it takes us a bit sometimes to figure out how to best use the tool. Be patient with yourself!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
