OK I have been waiting to finally complete this journey now for a few years. Ever since I finally decided to go though it I have been so excited and I know that this is the right decision for me. I have BCBS of Illinois and my doctor just called and said that i have successfully completed my 3 month program requirment and that she was submitting my paper work to the insurance complany. I am so excited and nervous @ the same time. I want to get this over ASAP. So now I am worried about how long it will take BCBS to approve me. Can anyone please give me some type of idea how long it takes BCBS to approve?

I have BCBS in NC. Dr Enochs office submitted my package on Monday and iwas told today I have my approval. That was much quicker than I was expecting. I plan to do my surgery in late Nov as that's when I have several days off work. I hope your answer is just as quick and also a yes.

thanks Cali for replying. From what I have seen BCBS appoves pretty quickly. I have heard as early as 24 hours. I am just so excited i feel like calling them everyday. But If I get approved by next week i want my surgery ASAP. So good Luck to you as well..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
