Hi! I'm 26 and new to the site!

Hello Everyone,

I have started the process by going to a seminar as well as already meeting with the doctor, his nurse, and the nutritionist. I have my psych appointment in a little under 2 weeks. I have Anthem and have been assured that there will be no problem being approved, so now I'm just doing some personal research.

I will have to attend 3 support group meetings per my Doctors requirements and also have 3 appointments with a trainer 2 before surgery and 1 after.

I've always been overweight and after having my child over a year ago have decided that I need to make a change and I clearly can't do it with my will alone.

How about everyone else, what are you dealing with? What can you share about your experiences?

Looking to find some friends on this site!

Welcome Laysee...the first steps always were the hardest for me, but stay strong and motivated and Whamm, next thing you know your crossing the finish line. My adventure has been the toughest I've made in my adult life, and like many others...I wouldn't change a thing. I just found this site last week, and I had my original band placed 2/5/09. I wish I would of had the support along the way...so this is a great place for you to start. Everyone is so inspirational and motivated....even on your bad days...they are here for you. Good Luck...YOU CAN DO IT!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
