How soon after a fill do you feel the change?

Recommended Posts

So I had my second fill last 4 cc's in a 10 cc band Wednesday - I started to feel different Tuesday, filling up quicker and staying full longer. Is this in my head or have other experienced this??

I did alot of research on here about that since after my first fill I didnt feel anymore restriction and I was getting worried. alot of people said they had a delayed reaction to the fill and it took a couple days to a week to feel the fill. I never really got anymore restriction and its been a week so I was disappointed. I had one day where I felt like I was more full faster but than i was back to being hungry and wanting more the next day. I am hoping my next fill will get me more restriction. Glad you have some though!

I have had 5 fills but still only 4cc in 10cc band. Each and every fill has had a delayed reaction some hours some days, once about a week. Last one of just .5cc was a kick in the butt and still going strong months later. I may never need a fill again. I have lost 75 lbs so far would like 20 more if possible.

My theory on the delayed feeling of the fill is this...the saline they push into the port probably doesn't all make it's way to the band right away. some of it lingers in the tubing for a while.

I got a bit overfilled at my 2nd fill (which brought me to 3.5 cc's in a 10cc band) and I could tell immediately! The first fill gave me no restriction (although I started hearing the gurgling sounds when I would drink something - that was new). I had .5 removed and it's only been one day with the new level. I definitely feel more restriction than before. I have to chew carefully now if it is something solid. I think it will ease up a bit as I think I'm still swollen from being too tight. My doc's PA said she notices somewhere between 4 and 5 is where most patients feel restriction on the 10cc band. Good luck!

I had my second fill on friday and I am now up to 4cc in a 10cc band. I can definately still eat but I get full faster and it last longer. Overall though, it is still not to the point that most people explain. I talked to my doctor yesterday and I said I was fine where I am, even though they would give me a little more. I am afraid of being sick or geting stuck. I figure as long as I am losing, I would rather be a little less full.

I feel like I don't feel a change but at the same time I am full longer so there is a change. So who knows. I am still trying to figure this all out!

I have a 14cc band

My first fill -5cc- was not really enough.I felt restriction but could eat very easily. Now i am at 7 cc (it's the 4th day now) and i can do only mushies. Even Water is a bit tricky.Doc said that 7-8 cc in a 14cc band is working best for lapbanders.I thought restriction was what i felt the first day of my surgery.Boy i was wrong ...

I notice the fill immediately. I had my 2nd fill yesterday, and drinking the barium stuff felt dift right away. I'm still on liquids, and I have to drink real slow or it kind of gets stuck, almost like a burp that needs to come out. Hard to explain.

I did notice after my 1st fill two wks ago, that I noticed a difference after a week or so. I'd have more stuff lodged if I ate too quickly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
