banded 6 days ago and Im hungry!!

Recommended Posts

Yes! I am 10 days post op and around day 6 -7 was craving food. I think it was just that i though i was hungry. I had a couple of days where i had extra serves of Soup but, then i had no weight loss. Yesterday i kept myself busy all day and stuck to my shakes and soup and it was a much better day. I also keep diet jelly (jello) in the fridge to eat when i need something. Returning to work next week will help so i wont be sitting around thinking about food. It is also hard when you have to cook for the rest of the family.

Congrats! How are you doing with Proteins? Usually, Protein Drinks will help give you a full feeling, at least that is what worked for me. Getting past the psychological nuances is tough liquids vs. solids was hard for me when I becam hungry or started thinking about solid food and it wasn't time for a Protein drink...I would go for short walks which seems to have helped me alot. I was banded on 8/23/10 so I am rather new to this too!:blushing:

I was banded the same day as you, and so (of course), I'm the same day post-op as you! I think the main thing is to get as much Protein as possible. That's what is going to fill you up. Try Isopure from your local GNC. It's premixed, and though it's not delicious, it tastes sooo much better than any of the other protein powders or drinks that I've tried. Plus, one drink has 40g of protein, 160 calories, and NO carbs or sugar. There's nothing that I've seen with those kind of stats. Also, warmer foods, such as heated broth, make me feel very satisfied.

Hi, costco has liquid chocolate Protein drinks (brand is Premium) - don't know what liquids you're doing but this is pretty filling. Whatever you do, don't eat without blending to liquid - 8 days after surgery I was starving and very constipated. I ate some cooked vegies, chewed them to death etc, but ate too much - the next day something sort of 'popped' around my port and I'm getting an ultrasound Friday. I'm scared to eat anything right now. I was blending fruit in with the liquid shakes but was told the sugar in the fruit will increase the hunger so I stopped that - am just doing liquids and broth. I made chicken Soup and blended it to liquid and drank it, it helps... hang in there, eat Jello or ? your doc says is okay, but do not get full - your tummy has to stretch back out on its own time, not from being full. You will cause yourself problems....been there, done that.

Hello I'm 14 days post-op and have just now started mushy foods. I found that when I was on liquids I would eat only a little bit cuz i filled up quick but would get hungry soon after. Now I feel like I could eat and eat and not get full (guess the swelling has gone down) so you go from one spectrum to the other with each food stage. Good luck to you. :blushing:

Yes, I was very hungry and disappointed. I had no idea I would be so hungry. I started walking more often, it does help with hunger and I made sure to drink enough fluids. This won't last or at least it didn't for me. I 23 days post op and the hunger is better or maybe I am just getting used to it.:blushing:

I was banded on 9/2 and I'm starving! I thought maybe it was just me, but I guess I was wrong. I eat a little bit of Soup, get full and within a few minutes, I'm hungry again. One more week of liquids, then mushies! I can't wait for some mashed potatoes lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
