Terrified...

Recommended Posts

...seems to be the word that comes to mind. I've finally made the decision to talk to my doctor about getting banded, but suddenly i'm in the middle of a panic attack! This should be one of the happiest moments of my life (i'm about to make a major life change and become a different person by next year my 40th birthday) and I am TERRIFIED. Not because of the surgery, or the pain involved...but of actually going forward and making the change?! I'm thinking that therapy may actually be helpful while going through this transition. I assume that's the norm??:)

Honey...if therapy is not the norm, it should be. You hit the nail on the head. Big changes...good life changes. But, a person needs to keep things straight in their own mind.

Only advice I have....prepare yourself so that when you wake up from LB surgery, you do not feel as if you have had the rug pulled out from under you. Practice living eating like a LB person. Follow every rule your LB doc advises you to so that when you get the hang of it, it's not a chore. It's a way of life. Good luck to you on your journey and congrats on making the decision to have a healthy life.

It is normal to feel anxiety, before and after. I woke up at home the next day and had to look at my scars to believe it really did happen. Best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck

Any major change is scary, good or bad. Being banded is a good change because it helps you handle your food demons. The bad news is you have to find new ways in which to handle those demons...Therapy is an excellent way to do that and also a way to get support for the lifestyle changes you need to undergo.

Good luck to you!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
