First fill today...ouch!

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill this afternoon...my doctor had a hard time finding the port so it was a tad uncomfortable and painful..but he finally found it and put in 3 cc's..I have a total of 4 now...My stomach is sore but I am just hoping this 3cc's helps me out..I have been so hungry and can eat about a cup and half of food before even starting to fill content....how long does it take to feel the effects of your fill? I know there is a chance that I wont but I am really not trying to believe that right now:tongue2: I am on liquids for the rest of the day but than back to regular food tomorrow..trying to mentally prepare to chew chew chew and small bites!!! Iv lost 26lbs in 6 weeks but havnt lost any in the past 2 weeks..I really want to start losing again.

I got my first fill today too. He put in 4cc's. I came home and had some Soup but I could only eat about 1/2 cup. I ate my Soup about an hour after my fill.

I was getting very hungry over the weekend and was eating a lot more than I had after surgery so this fill came at a good time for me.

My first fill was a bit more painful than the second. Each one was by a different doctor so possibly different techniques were involved. The first fill put me at 4ccs and since swelling had gone down I didn't really feel a difference. Now I'm at 5 and I think a little bit more and I'll feel like I'm at my sweet spot.

Thanks, I havn't eat anything since my fill but am really hungry right now. I am going to try and eat some Soup. My stomach doesnt feel any different yet...I just hope I have some restriction!! If not I have to wait another 6 weeks until my next fill on Nov 19th!! that would really suck but Im trying to be patient!

well I ate some soup..nothing..so I ate some chicken salad and I still dont feel any different..I hear that sometimes the fill takes a few days but Im really nervous that this fill won't change anything and now I may have to wait another 6 weeks for possible restriction!! so frustrating!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
